Our Story
Jag and Joshua met in 2016 and immediately discovered that they were meant to become creative collaborators and partners. We had day jobs to pay the bills but would spend our nights together dreaming, painting, drawing, sewing, talking, dancing, singing, and laughing. We hustled, planned, scrimped, and saved, all in the hope that one day making art could be our full-time gig. Sweet Heart Tattoo is the very place we dreamt of and creating beautiful tattoos side by side is exactly where we are meant to be. We strive to provide an inclusive, warm, welcoming, and inspiring environment for ourselves, our clients, and our community.
We both work and live in North East Portland and want to be a part of the legacy of art, community, culture, and kindness that North East Portland is known for. Although we achieved our goal of opening our shop, Sweet Heart Tattoo in July of 2020, we continue to build upon our dream in order to better serve our community. We are always painting new art for our walls and creating new tattoos for y’all! We are overjoyed to share our love of tattooing, art, and one another with our clients and our community through Sweet Heart Tattoo. Thank you for making our dreams come true!
What's Going On
At Sweet Heart Tattoo we strive to provide our clients with a clean and comfortable environment, where you can feel confident you are in good hands. Our walls are filled with hand painted tattoo flash designs that we have curated for our clients. We are always adding to the art on our walls and coming up with new tattoo designs and ideas for you to choose from. We have two ‘Get What You Get’ tattoo games filled with fun’n’fancy traditional tattoo designs, in both classic and deluxe sizes. Prefer a personalized piece? We are always happy to design and draw custom tattoos to suit your unique style, our artists are just that, artists! and we would love to create a custom tattoo just for you.
Not into tattoos but still want to be a part of the Sweet Heart Tattoo family fun? We have everything from tee shirts to tote bags featuring our artist’s designs. We sell art prints and original paintings made by our talented artists and for the tattoo lover who literally wants to wear art on their sleeves, we have one-of-a-kind hand-stitched patches (tattoos for clothes!) made in-house by Jag. What to Know
Yes, whenever we have availability we welcome walk-ins.
No, we are solely focused on the art of tattooing.
The state of Oregon requires that all persons must be 18 years of age with valid government issued photo identification to be tattooed.
We are open Wednesdays through Sundays, 11:00AM through 7:00PM and take our last tattoo of the day at 5:00PM.
Yes, our artists have hundreds of hand painted original designs available to be tattooed and we are able to accommodate most custom design requests
We are typically able to get most clients booked within a week of their initial outreach, depending upon the design, sometimes even within the same day.
Guests are welcome, however our space is small and we ask that guests wait in our lobby during the appointment. We are unable to accommodate minors and pets, licensed service animals are a-okay.
Our shop’s minimum price is $120
Our individual artist’s rates vary depending on their experience and ability.
Hourly rates are used for multi session tattoos (i.e. sleeves, back pieces, etc.), for single session tattoos we charge a set price based upon the design, details, size and placement.
We encourage you to bring a lidded reusable water bottle to your appointment. Small snack items are okay too.
